"Swarga"
(An English Novel which explains the history of our native place)
Translation of Malayalam book 'Enmakaje' (written by Ambikasutan Mangad),

In the early 1990s, the world got to know about macabre tales from a cluster of south Indian villages where aerial spraying of pesticides across its cashew estates continued for 12 years. As choppers hired by the Plantation Corporation of Kerala went on spattering endosulfan over the hills of Kasargod from 1979, hapless occupants developed deformities that hit headlines.
By the 21st century, settlements such as Padre, Perla and Cheemeni lost hundreds of children to congenital anomalies and mental ailments. Teenagers died or were rendered immobile with twisted limps or big heads. Elders were diagnosed with cancer and calves were born three-legged. Authorities typically refused to concede a link between this grotesqueness and endosulfan, even as public protests boiled with support from activists within and outside the Deccan. Amid studies by a dozen commissions, the apex court eventually banned the deadly off-patent insecticide in May 2011.
A novel based on so sordid a reality runs the risk of being loaded with journalese. Mangad avoids the trap skilfully. His book brims with lyrical beauty as well as pathos.
A work of fiction on so sordid a story bears the risk of an overdose of journalese stuffed with medical info. Swarga skilfully dodges that trap. Its author comes up with a literary treat, revelling in metaphors involving nature, with a plot laced with magic realism. Ambikasuthan Mangad’s novel brims with lyrical beauty as much as with the pathos of a people. A share of the credit does go to J. Devika, who has brilliantly translated the Malayalam novel, Enmakaje (2009).
Enmakaje (‘land of eight cultures’) is the real name of the panchayat where the endosulfan-triggered disaster unfolds to an initial misconception of the locals who speak Tulu, Kannada and even Marathi, besides (accented) Malayalam. Simple and largely illiterate, they attribute the increasing cases of cerebral palsy and physical deformities to the curse of Jadadhari, the god of the hills. It takes an outsider Malayali to knit the aggrieved together and launch an unarmed struggle against endosulfan, after reports of its potential for civilisational ruination.
The protagonist, Neelakantan, had chosen to spend a “low intelligence” life in the country after developing an antipathy towards urban society. A progressive journalist with a bend for charity, he is accompanied by his live-in partner Devayani in that upstate migration. They had met at a dicey Thiruvananthapuram pocket, where she gangraped after being jilted by her lover was nursed back from near-death by Neelakantan. By the time the pair landed in Swarga, they had abandoned even their names.
That’s why Ambikasuthan refers to them as Man and Woman. Six years into their contemplative existence in the woods, Woman one day brings home an ailing child she found abandoned during that week’s trip to the downhill market for the sale of cane baskets in return for minimal grocery. This pact violating entry of a third party enrages Man. The ensuing tiff, which is where the novel takes off, prompts Man to walk out. That spell of separation is where Ambikasuthan devises an innovative technique to unveil their past: Man converses with a cave he enters; Woman opens up to her mirror.
The duo patches up, following which Man is kind to the sore riddled child with greying hair. This first endosulfan victim introduced in the novel dies after assiduous treatment. It’s in search of his medicine that Man, now referred to as Neelakantan, first ventures far from their cottage. He finds Panji the centenarian healer, who says the ‘infant’ is at least eight years old. Together, they strike out for distant terrains the alluring, sprawling arecanut orchards with hibiscus fences are punctuated by scary analogies: narrow paths like rat snakes, leaf sheaths like serpents with hoods raised, jackfruit skin like a tiger’s. The endosulfan helicopters are ‘huge vultures’.
The novel simultaneously essays the region’s legends, often traced to Jainism, whose Spartan spirit exists in simple food habits: neerdosa of watery rice batter spread with cut chilies and the sweet-sour birinda drink from tamarind. Yet, its politicians are crooks, who prosper on huge bribes the pesticide behemoths offer to push their business of annihilating a non existent ‘tea mosquito’.
‘Naxals’ Neelakantan and Devayani, with new-found associate Jayarajan, end up in police lock-up, where third-degree assaults force them to concede roles in a made up counterfeit currency racket case. The novel builds up two bouts of climactic suspense, but both see the protestors failing in their bids to expose the key neta. Jayarajan vanishes inexplicably, while harrowing experiences continue to chase the other two. They find a haven in the old conversation encouraging cave, which accommodates them naked as Man and Woman, alongside mythical souls. Yet again, realism segues into fantasy.

"Give me fever and I can cure every disease." - Hippocrates, Father of Medicine.
THE LAWS OF CURE

(In his popular book: 'Philosophy of Natural Therapeutics")
"Give me fever and I can cure every disease." Thus Hippocrates, the "Father of Medicine", formulated the fundamental Law of Cure over two thousand years ago.
I have expressed this law in the following statement:
“Every acute disease is the result of a cleansing and healing effort of Nature.”
This law, thoroughly understood and applied in the treatment of diseases, will eventually do for medical science what the discovery of other natural laws has done for physics, astronomy, chemistry and other exact sciences. It will, by demonstrating the unity of disease and treatment, transform the medical empiricism and confusion of the past and present into an exact science.
Making a general application of the law, we deduce that all acute diseases, from a simple cold to measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria, smallpox, pneumonia, etc., represent Nature's efforts to remove from the system some form of morbid matter, virus or poison dangerous to health and life. In other words, acute diseases cannot develop in a perfectly normal, healthy body living under conditions favorable to human life.
The question may be asked : "If acute diseases represent Nature's healing efforts, why is it that people die as a result of them?" The answer to this is : the vitality may be too low, the injury or morbid encumbrance too great, or the treatment may be inadequate or harmful, so that Nature loses the fight ; still acute disease represents an effort of Nature to remove the causes of disease and thus to reestablish normal, healthy conditions.
It is a curious fact that this fundamental principle of Nature Cure and law of Nature has been acknowledged and corroborated by medical science. The most advanced works on pathology admit the constructive and beneficial character of inflammation. However, when it comes to the treatment of acute diseases, physicians seem to forget entirely this basic principle of pathology and treat inflammation and fever as though they were, in themselves, inimical and destructive to health and life.

Dengue Fever & Myth
All the types of fevers are manifestation of simple flu which were suppressed by medicines earlier.
Any one who gives rest to the body and not taking any form of food till the fever gets reduced will eventually comes out of all types of silently growing & acute diseases of our body.
That's why our Forefathers have wisely said: 'Lankanam Parama Oushadham'. That is 'Fasting is the Best Medicine'.
All differently named fevers are basically "fever" which is created by body to safeguard it from growing diseases. Fever is the best bio-medicine, which can be created only by our body. Never consider it as a disease, it is curing process of the body.
The body contains all wisdom to safeguard us and also to ease our life. Since we work against our body using our imported external knowledge we change our acute disease into chronic diseases.
Disease free life in any type of environment is always possible if you take natural food of your interest when you have clear feeling of hunger. This is the secret of healthy living beside sleeping early at every night.
Fasting is the best medicine when you have any type of disease.
If people understand this simple life style, the highly profitable food/drug /medicines business will stop. Hence these all propaganda.
Disease by mosquito bite never proved but used to make public panic to flourish their business. Mosquitoes can't be removed from earth and it is the part of eco-system.

2. A minimum 10000 sq ft building with all amenities
3. A minimum of 10 rooms for the temple devotee use, along with a special room for the stay of jagadguru/ swamiji /VIP visiting the temple
4. A well equipped Goshala
5. A spacious parking area
6. As per the advice of the astrologer, various changes to be done in the temple

ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೃದಯಗಳನ್ನು, ಹಳ್ಳಿ-ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳನ್ನು, ಪಕ್ಷ-ವಿಪಕ್ಷಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದುಮಾಡಿದ 'ಸೇತುಬಂಧ' ನಿಜಾರ್ಥದ ಗ್ರಾಮಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ. ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರು ಮೂಲತಃ ಕೃಷಿಕರು. ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಇದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಓದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೆಂಟು ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ನೂರ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ತೂಗುಸೇತುವೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಹದಿನೈದು ವರುಷವಾಗಿರಬಹುದು. ಸ್ವಿಸ್ ಪ್ರಜೆ ಟೋನಿ ರುಟ್ಟಿಮಾನ್ ಗಿರೀಶರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಸುಳ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಆ ದಿವಸಗಳು ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರಿಗೆ ಸಿಹಿ ದಿನಗಳು. ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರ ತೂಗುಸೇತುವೆಯ ಯಶೋಗಾಥೆಯು ಟೋನಿಯರನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಾಡಿಗೆ ಸೆಳೆದಿತ್ತು. ಟೋನಿಯದ್ದೂ 'ತೂಗುಸೇತುವೆ'ಯ ಕಾಯಕ. ಆದರದು ಯುದ್ಧಪೀಡಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಮರಿದ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಎತ್ತರಿಸಲು ಸೇತುಬಂಧ. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಟೋನಿಯವರ ಯಶೋಯಾನವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವುದು ಕೂಡಾ ಗಿರೀಶರ ಸೇತುಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಗೌರವ.
1989. ಟೀವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಕ್ವೆಡಾರ್ನ ಭೂಕಂಪದ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅದು ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ವಿಸ್ ಹುಡುಗನ ನಿದ್ದೆಗೆಡಿಸಿತು. ಆತನೇ ಟೋನಿ ರುಟ್ಟಿಮಾನ್, ಕಾಲೇಜು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ 'ನಾನೇನಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು' ಎಂಬ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪ. ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯೊಂದರ ಜನರ ನರಕಸದೃಶ ಬದುಕು ಟೋನಿಯ ಮನ ಕಲಕಿತು. ತುತ್ತು ಅನ್ನಕ್ಕೆ ತತ್ವಾರ. ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯದಿಂದ ಒದ್ದಾಡಿ, ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಒಯ್ಯಲಾಗದೆ ಸಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜನ. ನದಿ ದಾಟುವುದೇ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ. ಸಂಚಾರ ಸರಿಹೋದರೆ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳೂ ಕರಗುತ್ತವೆ ಅನಿಸಿತು. ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಟೋನಿಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಒಂದೇ, ಸೇತುವೆ ರಚನೆ.
ಸೇತುವೆ ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿತ್ತು? ಪರಿಚಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಹಾಯಕರಿಲ್ಲ, ಪರಿಕರಗಳಿಲ್ಲ. ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ, ಅನುಭವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ! ಇದ್ದದ್ದು ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಒಂದೇ! ಅವರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದದ್ದೂ, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರಿಂದ ಪಡೆದದ್ದೂ ಸೇರಿದಾಗ ಎರಡು ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಜನರಿಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರು. ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ಜನ ನಂಬಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬೆರಳೆಣಿಕೆಯ ಯುವಕರು ಜತೆಯಾದರು. ಡಚ್ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರೊಬ್ಬರು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಕೊಡಲೊಪ್ಪಿದರು. ಒಂದು ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಕಂಪೆನಿಯಿಂದ ರೋಪ್, ಪೈಪ್, ಕೇಬಲ್ಗಳು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಇವರ ಕಿಸೆಯ ಮೊತ್ತ ಸಿಮೆಂಟ್, ಜಲ್ಲಿಗಳಿಗೆ. ಜನರು ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗೆ ಮುಂದಾದರು. ಐವತ್ತೈದು ಮೀಟರ್ ಉದ್ದದ ತೂಗುಸೇತುವೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಯಿತು.
ಮತ್ತೆ ಸ್ವದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ. ಸಿವಿಲ್ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಕಲಿಕೆ ಸುರು. ಈ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಇಕ್ವೆಡಾರ್ ಭೂಕಂಪ ಪೀಡಿತರ ನರಳಿಕೆಯ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಅರ್ಧದಲ್ಲೇ ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟು ಮತ್ತೆ ಇಕ್ವೆಡಾರ್ಗೆ. ಹೊಳೆ ದಾಟಲಾಗದ ಜನಸಮುದಾಯದ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಒರೆಸುವುದೇ ಬದುಕಿನ ಗುರಿ ಆಯಿತು. ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ವರುಷ ಹಣೆಯ ಬೆವರೊರೆಸಲಿಲ್ಲ! ಒಂದು ನೂರ ಐವತ್ತೈದು ಸೇತುವೆಯಾದಾಗಲೇ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ! ಮೊದಮೊದಲ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಸೇತುವೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಚಾಲನೆ. ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳ ಕಿವಿಯರಳಿಸಿತು!
ಕೇಬಲ್ಕಾರ್ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ. ಉದ್ದೇಶವರಿತ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳು ಕೇಬಲ್ ಕೊಡಲು ಮುಂದಾದುವು. ಬೇರೆಬೇರೆ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳಿಂದ ರೋಪ್, ಪೈಪ್, ಚಕ್ಕರ್ಡ್ ಪ್ಲೇಟ್ ಹೀಗೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಬಳಸಿದ ಕಚ್ಚಾವಸ್ತುಗಳುಗಳು ಸಿಗತೊಡಗಿದುವು. ಜಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಿಮೆಂಟ್ಗಳನ್ನೂ. ಕೈಗೂಡಿಸಲು ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನರು. ಟೋನಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ. ಸಂಶಯ ಬಂದಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅದೇ ಡಚ್ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ. ಟೋನಿಯ ಮನಸ್ಸರಿತ ವೆಲ್ಡರ್ ವಾಲ್ಟರ್ ಯೆನೆಜ್ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿದರು. ಮುಂದಿನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರ ಹೆಗಲೆಣೆ. ಸೇತುವೆ ರಚನೆಯಾದಂತೆಲ್ಲಾ, ಅನುಭವ ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಯಿತು. ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಪದವೀಧರರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಒಂದು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಮುಂದೆ!
ಈ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂ ಯುದ್ಧ. ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂ, ಕಾಂಬೋಡಿಯಾ, ಲಾವೋಸ್ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಕ್ವೆಡಾರ್ನ ಮರುಕಳಿಕೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಕಂಪ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧ. ಇಕ್ವೆಡಾರ್ನ ಸೂತ್ರ್ರ ಇಲ್ಲೂ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ. ಜನಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವದಿಂದಲೇ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ. ನಾಲ್ಕುನೂರಕ್ಕೂ ಮಿಕ್ಕಿ ಸೇತುವೆಗಳು! ಹಾರ, ತುರಾಯಿಯಿಂದ ಟೋನಿ ದೂರ. 'ಜನರದೇ ಸೇತುವೆ, ನನ್ನ ಪಾತ್ರ ಏನಿಲ್ಲ' ಎನ್ನುವ ನಿಲುವು. ಕಚ್ಚಾವಸ್ತು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವು ಯಾವ ಸೇತುವೆಗೆ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗಿವೆ, ವೆಚ್ಚ, ಉಳಿತಾಯ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ಸವಿವರ ಲೆಕ್ಕ.
ಈ ಸೇತುವೆಗಾಥೆ ಕೇಳಿ 2002ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂಬೋಡಿಯಾ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಿಂದ ಬುಲಾವ್. ಸಹಕಾರದ ಭರವಸೆ. ಕಡತಗಳು ಮಂತ್ರಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ. 'ಸಹಾಯ ಕೊಡಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಗೆ ಕರೆಯಬೇಕು, ಸೇತುವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಚಿಹ್ನೆ ಕೊರೆಯಬೇಕು.' ಟೋನಿಗೆ ಕಿರಿಕಿರಿ. 'ಇದು ಜನಸೇತುವೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಅವರೇ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಕರು' ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಈ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಯೇಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಿಗೂ ತಲಪಿತು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಅವರೇ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ತಿಳಿಯಾಗಿಸಿದ್ದರು!
ಸೇತುವೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಟೋನಿ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಡುವುದು ಮೂರೇ ಬಾರಿ. ಸ್ಥಳವೀಕ್ಷಣೆ, ಆವಶ್ಯಕತೆ, ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತುಕತೆ, ಅಂದಾಜು ವೆಚ್ಚ, ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವದ ವಿಧಾನ, ಬೇಕಾಗುವ ಸರಕುಗಳ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಮೊದಲ ಭೇಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ. ಎರಡನೇ ಭೇಟಿ ಅಡಿಪಾಯಕ್ಕೆ. ಕೊನೆಯದ್ದು ಟವರ್, ಕೇಬಲ್ ಜೋಡಣೆ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸರಿಹೋದರೆ ಐದೇ ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇತುವೆ ರೆಡಿ. ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿದ ಜನ ಕೈಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೇ ಪ್ಯೆಲ್ ಕ್ಲೋಸ್. 'ಲ್ಯಾಪ್ಟಾಪ್' ಮೂಲಕ ಸಕಲ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ.
ಭಾರತದ ರಾಯಭಾರ ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಟೋನಿಯ ಪರಿಚಯದ ಸ್ವಿಸ್ ಮಹಿಳೆಯೊಬ್ಬರಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಿಂದ ಗಿರೀಶರ ಸೇತುವೆಗಾಥೆಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರು. 'ನೀನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ' ಎಂದು ಟೋನಿಯನ್ನು ಚುಚ್ಚಿದರು. ತಗೊಳ್ಳಿ, ಟೋನಿ ನೇರ ಸುಳ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ! ಕಿಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ವಿಳಾಸ - ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಭಾರಧ್ವಾಜ್, ಸುಳ್ಯ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ, ಇಂಡಿಯಾ. ಆಗ ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜ್ ವಾರಂಗಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇತುವೆಯ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು! ಟೋನಿ ಕಾದರು. ವಾರದ ಬಳಿಕ ಬಂದ ಗಿರೀಶ್ರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ದಿನ ಕಳೆದರು.
ಟೋನಿಯ ಆಸ್ತಿ ಎರಡು ಬ್ಯಾಗ್ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಒಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪು, ಮತ್ತೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಲ್ಯಾಪ್ಟಾಪ್ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ. 'ಟೋನಿ ಒಂದೇ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ದಿನ ನಿದ್ರಿಸಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದು ಸುಳ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ'! ಭಾರತದ, ನಮ್ಮ ಸುಳ್ಯದ ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜ್, ಸ್ವಿಜರ್ಲ್ಯಾಂಡ್ನ ಟೋನಿ - ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಸೇತುವಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣ -
ತೂಗುಸೇತುವೆ. ಈಗಲೂ ಮಿಂಚಂಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಟೋನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜ್ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಹಿಂದೊಮ್ಮೆ ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರು ನಮ್ಮ ಆಡಳಿತ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕಾಣದ ಮುಖದ ವಿಷಾದದ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರು. ಸೇತುವೆ ಕೆಲಸ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಕೇರಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದಷ್ಟು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೇರಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸೇತುವೆ ಮುಗಿಯುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಜನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರಾಗಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಅಂದರೆ ಜನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಬಿಕ್ಷುಕ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದಂತೆ ವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇವರ ವರ್ತನೆ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಸೇತುವೆ ಸಹವಾಸವೇ ಬೇಡ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಜನರ ಕಣ್ಣೀರನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ನೋವು ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯ ಖುಷಿ. ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಾಯಕ ಪೂರೈಸುವ ಬದ್ಧತೆ. ಅವರ ಇಡೀ ತಂಡದ ಮಿಲಿಟರಿ ಶಿಸ್ತು ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರ ಸೇತುಯಾನದ ಯಶ. ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಅಭಿನಂದನೆ ಹೇಳಲು ಫೋನ್ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಗಿರೀಶರು ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸೇತುವ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ ಭರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. "ಎರಡು ತೂಗುಸೇತುವೆಗಳು ರೆಡಿ ಆಗ್ತಿವೆ. ಒಂದು, ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಗಂಗಾವಳಿ ನದಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡವಾಗಿ ಸೇತುವೆ. ಇದು ಬಿದರಳ್ಳಿ, ಡೋಂಗ್ರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಗ್ಗರಣೆ ಈ ಮೂರು ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ. ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಗುಂಡುಬಾಳ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಂಡುಬಾಳ ನದಿಗೆ ಸೇತುವೆ," ಎನ್ನುವ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರು ಎನ್ಡಿಟಿವಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರಭ ಸುವರ್ಣ ವಾಹಿನಿಯ ಅಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ, ಸಿಎನ್ಎನ್-ಐಬಿಎನ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ.. ಹೀಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈಗ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ. ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮಗನಾಗಿ, ಮಣ್ಣನ್ನು ನಂಬಿರುವವರ ಬಾಳಿಗೆ ನಿಜಾರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರದ್ವಾಜರು ದೀವಿಗೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಭಿನಂದನೆಗಳು.
